The popular live music program has found a new home.

Hosted by the UAE's own A&R aficionado, Zahra Soar, Open Mic is a weekly show by musicians for music lovers, each segment showcasing new local   talent. Zahra brings artists from across the globe to the studio to perform their own work to a loyal set of listeners. Recent acts have included human beat-boxers from the Philippines, Ethiopian reggae performers, Chilean punks and Palestinian MCs.
 
Zahra believes that because we live in a region where there is a wealth of talent from all over the world, embracing a huge variety of global musical traditions, Open Mic's purpose is to provide exposure for this. As a platform for talented musicians to be recognized by the public and anyone who is interested in local music.

Andy Buchan is the newest addition to the Open Mic team. He was the Time Out music editor for 2 years, and has written for other illustrious publications such as the NME and Q Magazine. He also happens to be a certified music addict whose eclectic taste spans all genres. His reviews will all be local based, so if you fancy putting your material under the microscope, go ahead! We welcome all music that was recorded in the U.A.E.
